CO2RE Facial Laser Skin Resurfacing

Facial rejuvenation is an umbrella term for cosmetic procedures that aim to restore a youthful appearance to your face. The foundation of facial rejuvenation has long been a surgical facelift, but new technologies are now enabling us to deliver similar results with non-surgical procedures.

A key element of non-surgical facial rejuvenation is laser skin resurfacing, which uses light to remove damaged upper layers of your skin, thereby smoothing and tightening the skin, removing wrinkles, and correcting pigmentation problems.

There are many different lasers for skin resurfacing; Our favorite is the CO2RE Fractional Laser System from Syneron-Candela.

Elamar specializes exclusively in non-surgical aesthetic enhancement. Request a consultation online today to discuss your options for wrinkle removal, or call (256) 686-9111 to schedule an appointment.

Why CO2RE Is the Superior Laser for Skin Resurfacing

The CO2RE is a C02 laser, all of which use fractional technology to burn millions of microscopic columns into the skin, rather than removing cells over the entire skin surface. To you it will look like tiny dots covering about 20 percent of your skin’s surface; the 80% of skin cells left undamaged help the treated areas heal more quickly.

CO2 lasers work by generating an intense laser beam in the far infra-red spectrum (~10,000 nm); energy from this beam is absorbed by water, and because cells are composed mainly of water, they are quickly heated or ablated (vaporized).

This creates new healthier skin by forcing your body to produce new skin cells and collagen as it “heals”.

The CO2RE Laser System differs from other fractional CO2 lasers by using two types of laser beams simultaneously, allowing us to treat the skin at multiple depths and significantly increasing the effectiveness.

Can I benefit?

Ideal candidates for CO2RE are in their 30’s or older, seeking younger looking skin.

Although CO2 facial resurfacing requires much less downtime than surgical resurfacing procedures, it is an aggressive treatment, having this one treatment is like having multiple other non-invasive treatments at once.

We recommend this option to those who have the ability to take some time to heal (7-14 days).

However, it’s the best way to get maximum results with a single treatment.

Benefits of CO2RE Laser Resurfacing include:

  • Improved skin smoothness
  • Evening of skin tone
  • Brighter, more clear skin
  • Reduced age spots
  • Reduced brown spots and pigmentation from sun damage
  • Skin tightening
  • Reduction in fine lines and wrinkles
  • Lessening the prominence of facial scars
  • Reduction of skin pore size
  • Improved facial structure and contour
  • Plumping the face

FAQ

Is CO2RE safe?
Yes. Dr. Gill will talk to you about your medical and skin history to minimize the potential for any negative reactions.

Does it hurt?
Although the CO2RE is an aggressive laser procedure, we apply a topical anaesthetic prior to treatment to make it virtually painless. Minimal discomfort may be felt but it is very tolerable.

How many CO2RE treatments will I need?
Generally, you will achieve significant improvement after only one treatment. In the days after the treatment, your skin will gradually look softer and smoother. Age spots and uneven skin texture will start to show immediate improvement.

What can I expect after my procedure?
Immediately after the procedure you can expect a sensation similar to sunburn, which may last for several hours. In the days following you will experience peeling of dead skin from the treated area that may last 7 to 10 days.

Do I need to take any special precautions after treatment?
Use of moisturizer (Aquaphor) and sunscreen (we will help you choose the appropriate product) is recommended during the healing process and for the weeks and months following treatment.
