Micro-Needling + PRP for Younger Skin
The Vampire Facial®, sometimes called a “blood facial”, is a cutting edge cosmetic procedure that uses growth factors taken from your own blood (hence vampire) to rejuvenate your face.
During the procedure a doctor draws a couple vials of blood from your arm, then centrifuges the blood to separate out the Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP).
The doctor will then apply the PRP to your face while micro-needling in order to improve absorption and amplify the benefits.
Here’s everything you need to know about this wildly popular procedure.
What is Micro-needling?
Micro-needling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses a “pen” device equipped a grid of super-tiny (micro) needles to lightly puncture your skin.
By damaging your skin in a controlled manner, micro-needling stimulates the dermis (deeper layer of skin) to release certain special active biomolecules into the surrounding skin in order to heal it.
This healing process improves the appearance of your skin by kicking local collagen production into high gear – restoring youthful appearance to your skin.
Micro-needling works fantastically by itself to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, restore volume to the face, and improve complexion.
It’s usually followed with skin care products, but during a Vampire Facial® those products are exchanged for PRP in order to heighten the benefits.
What is PRP?
Platelets are tiny blood cells which play a crucial part in helping the body stop bleeding and repair damaged blood vessels and cells – they release proteins for growth (growth factors) when they come in contact with the body’s tissue.
These growth factors then activate stem cells already in your skin, tricking them into “thinking” there’s been an injury and signalling them to generate new younger tissue.
PRP also reduces the downtime of traditional micro-needling and amplifies all it’s benefits – another great reason these treatments pair so well together!

What to Expect During Your Visit
First we take your photograph; so later you can look back and see how fabulous you are now!
Then we’ll go to your room and apply numbing cream, which will sit for about 30 minutes.
While your numbing we’ll draw some of your blood (ala vampire!) and place it in the centrifuge to spin down so we can extract the PRP or liquid gold as we like to call it.
Now that you’re good and numb and we have your PRP, you’re ready to begin micro-needling!
We’ll drop a small amount of PRP on your face, then go over your skin with the micro-needling pen to create the micro-punctures. This allows your skin to absorb the growth factors in the PRP while also stimulating new collagen production.
After we’ve micro-needled over your whole face, we take the remaining PRP and apply it to your skin to create a “mask”. You’ll leave this on until the next day to allows the skin to heal.
The entire procedure takes roughly an hour and a half.
You’ll notice a healthy glow after the first few days, but complete results take about 4-6 weeks once full collagen remodeling has taken place.
